Yes, it was done in one procedure. There was no way to tell how severely the band had damaged my stomach, not one of the diagnostics showed the extent of the damage.
The risk for a leak with a revision is quadrupled vs. a virgin sleeve. I was my surgeon's first and only leak ever.
It happens, there's more leaks around here from virgin sleeves as well. So, it's a risk, I knew my chances were high. I survived and I'm thriving 3 years later.
I think that is why the doc wants to wait two months between. He said there was a much higher risk of leaks in the area where the band was. It wants it to heal but, if I really whined he would most likely give in. After reading all this I think waiting would be best.
My surgeon really didn't have much of an option to not sleeve me. The damage was so significant, he had to remove so much tissue, he had to do something. Unfortunately, I popped a leak and it was repaired immediately, by him going in and sewing my stomach back from 2 separate pieces.
Your surgeon will know what's best.
