I couldn't take the thinning anymore.  I am finally getting some new growth in weird places, but my long hair had just stopped growing and was only shedding.  Today I went in and got a massive cut.  Started with a 10 in pony tail chopped off, and then she went to town just cutting and cutting.  No pics, cuz I think the hair cut aged me like ten years, and it depressed me.  In order to get over the depression I went shopping  - I found out that I can comfortably wear size 11 jeans, and squeeze into a size 9.  That helped.  lol

 I'm being proactive.... Pony tail chop on Saturday.... Hopefully I'll like my new cut.  Just tired of long hair... This heat... Thinking of surgery and thinning....

 It's just hair; it'll grow back.  At least that is what I have been telling myself too.  My hair stylist got scissor happy on me 3 weeks ago & gave me the shortest layers.  I think the style aged me too.  But on the bright side, it feels lighter & since I feel lighter, it's all good.  I'll just deal with it.  
At least our hair will eventually grow back!

 I feel your pain.  My ponytail comes off tomorrow, then I'm going on a trip so I'm stuck with the results whether I like it or not (no opportunity for shopping therapy after ).  I'm glad you got it done though.  It will probably grow back like crazy now!

I feel for you! Chopped my hair last January never cried until then! Swore no haircut until end of August actually counting the weeks because it totally looks like hell. I have had the same person cut my hair since I was 7 I'm now 51. Yes I strayed over the years but this last cut taught me a big big lesson. Never again will anyone touch my hair except him.

 Thanks for the encouragement and compliments.  I can say that I don't like it still this morning - but it might just be my own hang ups about having short hair.  lol.

Here's my two "looking on the bright side" observations:

1. It took me about 4 minutes to blow dry and style my hair this morning.  That's it.  Amazing.  AND
2. The haircut makes me want to wear all my cute shoes - to distract people from looking at my head.
