I have to say...thanks for suggesting...

Thanks to all who have suggested unsweetened almond milk in place of skim milk.  I've never had problems with dairy but since surgery I've had a hard time using milk in my protein.  I tried almond milk for the first time yesterday and was able to easily drink my shake - no nausea or having to force myself to drink.

 Isn't great when you can find a shake you can tolerate!!  It's no fun when you have to force a shake down:(. I did that for a few days, but  finally am making a shake I actually like.

  

        

 What has been your magic shake?  I'm glad you've found something that you like!

 GNC unflavored protein, 1T cocoa, 1-2t of sf Carmel torani syrup, and 1-2t of stevia.  I've been using 8 oz. of water but you could use almond milk and  tweak it to your taste:). Next time I go to Walmart, I'm going to pick up another sf syrup and some sf pudding mix for variety.

  

        

Thank gawd for unsweetened almond milk. I only started using it in place of water for my protein shakes about a month or so ago. I love my shakes so much more because of it!

love almond milk....also coconut milk too. (unsweetened of course)..actually have a blend of the two that I just finished. Deelish!
      
 I'm curious abut the coconut milk and your idea of blending them.  May have to give that a try sometime...

Not sure what brand you're using, but I ran across this the other day, and it actually has 5 grams of protein (which is 5x what most of them have)

 Yes, that's the one I'm using.  :). I found it at Walmart.  I liked the extra protein in the milk so this helped to fill that void as well.  I love how creamy it is.

I always have used skim because of the extra protein. Is the almond milk less carbs or something as well as being less calories?

Is the unsweetened almond milk in the refrigerated section? If I can save a few carbs/calories I wouldn't mind trying it out!
 Almond plus milk unsweetened is 40 calories, 2g fat, 1 carb and 5g protein in 1 cup.  While  1 cup of skim milk  has 90 calories, 0 fat,  13 carbs,  12  sugar and 8 protein.   And yes, I found it in the refrigerated section next to the milk at Walmart.  Hope you like it!  I was pleasantly surprised and like that it's has a creamy texture as well.

 another bounus with the almond milk is the extra calcium and fewer carbs than skim milk! :)
