Remember my delimma from last night?????

Okay so remember I was invited out with my boss and my bosses boss, and neither of them know I just had VSG.  Well I was trying to figure out what to eat, and if I should have a glass of wine, and just sip so they would not be suspicious.  All of the advice I got was great.  So here is what happened.

NO WINE.....good decision!!!!!!  I am only three weeks out July 23rd.

I told them I was on a medically supervised diet, and based on the supplements they were giving me, I was totally not hungry.  But, I would order a healthy dinner and take most of it home and eat on it all weekend.  So, I ordered Salmon, steamed spinach (no butter), and marinated mushroom caps.

I am being super careful, I promise.  We were all talking and laughing.  I took about three pea sized bites of the spinach and salmon and I thought I chewed until it was practically mush but, guess what.......minutes later, I feel like I have a meatball stuck in my esophagus, and the foamies start coming big time.  I had to excuse myself and go to the bathroom to spit, spit, spit, and more spit.  YUK.

Then to make it even worse, I puked on the way home.  I apologized big time.  I finally just told them the truth.  And, they were super supportive, I should have just told them from the beginning.  I guess a lesson or maybe it will help someone decide what to do if they are contemplating telling certain people.  I felt like a complete idiot.  I was so eager to get out and start living a "normal" life.  Hey but, I was down another pound this morning.  20 total in three weeks.  Thanks for listening.  I know you guys would understand.  Heather

important lesson here. if anyone else has this situation and feels that they can't "tell" their companions, just tell the thing about the medically supervised diet and order a clear soup and tell the waiter to  bring it with the entrees and then eat the broth.

or even bring your protein powder and order glass of skim milk. same explaination.     Diane

Sorry you got sick....and I hope you told because it is what you wanted to do and not because you felt compelled to.

Most importantly, I think that 3 weeks post op is just too soon for spinach. I am far from a source of sleeve knowledge here, but I am like 6 weeks out and haven't ventured stuff like that yet. I am not certain I could even handle the salmon now.

Just saying....be careful...don't rush things along.

My surgeon is super liberal.  He wants you on solids asap  Weeks 2 to 4.  Anything, just wants you to chew the crap out of it.  But, now I don't agree with him.  I can tell you I lived on liquids today, and could only muster 400 calories.  I will think twice before I eat anything solid again for several weeks.  I have an appt. next Th.and I will bring it up.  Thanks Heather

Well at least they took it well that's y in the very beginning I avoided eating with others unless my hubby came, cuz then he could slip bites of mine and no one ever noticed lol
