Anything to help with this dizziness?

It wasn't bad until about a week ago. I'm three weeks post op and EVERY TIME I get up or bend over I get so dizzy I'm about ready to go down. I make a point to get up slow but that doesn't even matter. I thought maybe low BS or dehydrated but even when I do focus on consuming a lot of liquids or eat a little something it's still pretty bad. Anyone with tips or what they did to get through this would be greatly appreciated!
I don't know.  I'm preop and get dizzy easily.  So I'm worried about it being worse post op.  Sorry I can't help you but just to let you know I have this problem too.

I'm so glad you posted this because I am wondering the exact same thing! I've been getting dizzy/ light headed when I get up pretty often too! (I'm 2 weeks post op) And tonight was the WORST.. I got up real quick to turn on a light and I literally had to grasp onto the wall. Today was also my first day back to the gym, so Im just thinking my body isn't used to the lack of calories. I hope it ends soon for both of us! I feel your pain!

This is likely one of two possible things.

Blood pressure (more likely this though)   Orthostatic hypotension

Blood Sugar (less likely this)

Hope this helps.  On a side note I am not a doctor and if you think something is wrong or it goes on for an unreasonable amount of time talk with your doctor.  Get to the bottom of things.  Your health is extremely important.

Hi Lhubbs,

Yes, i actually passed out from getting up too fast or had strong dissyness and other times started to go into afib on my heart several times from a lack of hydration. My blood pressure drops significantly without enough water. All this occured within approx 2-3 months post op. After a few visits to the er from passing out etc, they gave me a few bags of fluid and i came back to normal. That said, once i tracked my actual vs what i thought i drank i found it too be true. I need 96-128.oz to fend of the dizzyness. All better and minimal dizzynes since then. About 8 months later.

Vigorously shake your legs and make sure your sodium intake is normal. I have orthostatic hypotension and have had for over 2 years now. I was diagnosed with it at 8 months post-VSG, I was below goal, and admittedly I had been cutting sodium intake because of water weight and bouncing on the scale. Of course, you need to check with your medical team to make sure something else isn't going on if increasing fluids isn't helping.
