Hungry post op??

I've been really good at getting in all of my water and protein every day.  The problem is even after 610 grams of protein (2 protein shakes) and 64oz of water I'm still hungry!!  I made myself some tomatoe soup but I feel like I shouldn't be eating it because it doesn't have any protein in it.   I can't stand the unflavored unjury protein.  I had so much hope but I can smell it and taste it.  It gives every food I put it in this nasty flavor that makes me feel sick.   I just don't know if its ok to eat more after I've gotten in all my protein, and I don't feel like I should be hungry anyway .  I know its just liquids and essentially drains right out and all that, but I can fit almost 6oz into my sleeve at a time, no problem.  Seems weird.

In my view you have acid!...Feeding tomatoe soup is going to make it worse. You will get more acid build up. I'd try to see your doctor for an acid reducer. If you're on one. You need a bit stronger one or he/she may double your dose.

Until you get on solid protein you're not going to have the full feeling.  Be patient, you're going to have this small stomach for the rest of your life.  When you're hungry go out and walk don't sit around thinking about how hungry you are.  This is your new life...embrace it!  Go do something, enjoy!

It may be like Donna stated; stomach acid. Does your doctor have you on anything like omeprozole? I had to take that every day for the first six months.

And yeah, unjury protein blows.

I'm in it to win it!
Hey guys!  Sorry that was supposed to be 60 grams of protein not 610 grams (typo)  Thanks for your responses.  Yes I am taking an anti Ulcer medication, Pantoprazole, every morning.  I feel fine until night time and then I get this knawing hungry feeling that wont go away.  I let myself have some soup or something and then I feel "full" (my new version of full anyway) and I'm good to go.

So basically though what you guys are saying is that after I get in all my protein I SHOULD NOT put any more calories into my body, is that right?  I'm only getting 300 calories a day with my protein drinks so I thought that might be the reason that I'm feeling hungy.  But I'm still learning the ways of the sleeve which is why I wanted to ask.

I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow and I'll talk to him about possibly being able to take tums.

Thanks!

Here's my take...

1) You might need a stronger acid reducer.
2) If you are able to get in 60 grams of protein a day already, I would seriously consider working on a 3rd shake to get even more protein in. 60 grams a day has never felt like enough for me. I'm 4 months out, and most days I get about 90 grams of protein in. Some doctors even feel like more protein minimizes the risk of hair loss postop, so it definitely couldn't hurt, especially if you're only getting in about 300 calories a day right now.
3) I did use sf jello, sf chocolate pudding, and sf popsicles to help between shakes and fluids. It's amazing how filling jello can be at that stage.
4) Are you easily getting in that 60 oz of fluid a day? If so, can you up it? I try for 100 oz a day, and it really helps me to feel more full.

Of course, all of this should be with your dr's approval, but IMO there is nothing wrong with making yourself more comfortable in this phase, especially if it means adding protein or calorie free snacks.

Thanks!! This was really helpful!  I'll make up some sugar free pudding to use as a snack!
