Things you wish you knew before the surgery? Things you wish you had asked your docto!

Hey everyone. I am just wondering. Why are some things you wish you had known- about the sleeve before getting the surgery?

What's something you wish you had asked your doctor beforehand? Positive and negative ???!!!!

I asked everything I needed to know before my surgery, but here is an old thread where people added the questions they asked their surgeons.  Maybe some of this will help.

I have to say, my surgeons office made sure every question was asked and anything I didn't think to ask, they mentioned... to the point of quizzing both my husband and myself on the main points we need to know, to be sure we were both on the same page.

I will say, I wi****ook my measurements before.  I did pics, but no measurements. :(

Same as the previous posters. I asked more than I wanted to know! And got all the info either from my surgeon or VSGers from here. I do wish I had asked my surgeon to take pictures of the part of the stomach that he removed. That would have been cool to see.

I wish I had insisted on having my vitamin / protein blood work done prior to surgery.  First time was post op and everything was crazy, but there was no knowing how crazy they were prior to surgery.

Definitely do measurements and photos prior to pre-op fast, it is such a great tracking tool and helps your mind catch up with the fast changes your body will make.

Good Luck!

It was pretty far into the process (surgery scheduling) before I heard about the whole giving myself blood thinner injections after surgery for 10 days! Wish I would have known that earlier!

Did your surgeon tell you that you would be giving yourself injections post-op?  I only had heparin in the hospital and none after I was discharged.  Every surgeon is different.

My surgeon had me totally prepared but I didn't take measurements or before
Pictures...that's a bummer ( more the pictures than the measurements)
I do say I wish I would have let go of the never ending doubt and fear
That kept me from this surgery for about 4 yrs....

If I had to go back and do it all over again, I would start lifting weights about a month before my surgery and load up on protein ad much as I could though the process. I lost a lot of muscle mass and its very hard to get it back.
