3 weeks of walking, and scale is not moving much...
Hey everyone! I'm almost 5 months out and down 89 pounds. I started a new job in the city and now I commute. So I am walking anywhere from 5-7km a day. (3-4.5 miles). I am also climbing about 5 flights of stairs daily. (All stuff I didn't do before)
Well, my scale is barely moving. Not like before I started walking. Down 1.1 the first week, 2.6 the second. It's good losses, but not what it has been...
Do you think the walking could be causing this? Is my body getting used to it? It's so disappointing for this to happen. I thought I would be flying to 100. I was on target to reach 100 pounds much sooner, but not anymore.
My food is good. Sometimes my protein is lacking, so I need to concentrate on that. But for the most part, cals are 700-750, carbs 30 and protein 60+. Water is so so. 5 a day. But the main thing is, my food intake hasn't changed. Just the exercise has.
It's frustrating, too.... because there is this one person who I know, why had RNY, and she beat me in weight loss just today, and she eats like crap! She does also exercise a lot (not weight training). It bugs me that I watch my food, and now walking, and the scale is not moving much.
Thanks everyone. Would love your opinions!
Don't forget that you are probably adding some lean tissue as a result of the uptick in walking and stair climbing. That will offset your fat loss as well. Once your muscles have adjusted to the new level of activity, you will see the scale move again. At your caloric intake, you can't help but to lose weight.
Relax, settle in for the long haul. This is a marathon, not a sprint and you are doing awesome!
I agree about the water, but there may also be another factor. I am not sure how much weight you had to lose. As you get closer to goal your weight loss will slow and 2.6 lbs in one week is a great loss. If like most people, you won't continue to lose 5 lbs per week. Any loss is movement in the right direction and it will slow down as you get closer to normal BMI. You may even have stalls that you think will never end. That's just the nature of the beast. Just keep doing what you know to be correct based on your doctor's plan and you will do fine. Congrats on 89 lbs lost in 5 months. That is awesome!
