Traveling Tips
In just over two weeks I'm going to be traveling to Indianapolis for a convention. This is the first time I'll be flying post-op and I'm super excited for the whole trip. I've started making a packing list and I'm looking for some advice, tips, etc, for those of you who have traveled post-op!
What do I need to remember to pack that my new life requires? What sorts of things should I take for emergency rations for the convention? I'd love to hear any tips and tricks that you've had success with!
My tip is that I get my powders set up at home in single serving snack size ziploc bags. Then, when I need to mix my shake, I just dump the ziploc of powder into my blender bottle and shake it up - no need to travel with a big protein powder container!

If you like yogurt, I freeze some then when I pack a little bag of snacks it keeps them cool and is ussually thawed but still cool when I get to it. I pack a little cooler w/ those to keep them cool.
You can generally ask for a fridge in the hotel and they will give you one.
Always have a water bottle -- I bring an empty one through security with me. Most airports have water fountains where you can fill them -- save yourself $5
Other snacks I typically carry: string cheese, ham & cheese, nuts
Good Luck & Have fun :)
I'm packing a soft-sided cooler since the hotel doesn't have fridges. I'm going to request one, but I don't have high hopes since it's first come, first serve and the entire city is booked :(
Thanks for the other suggestions!!

When I fly, I have Amazon send RTD protein shakes to my destination for me. I carry canned or pouched tuna in my bag. For water...I carry a camelbak with a 100 ounce bladder. It is empty when going through security.
I am one year out so I am able to consume most of my protein so that helps a lot.
Hopefully you'll get expenses for your meals so you won't feel badly if you have to leave food on your plate.
Glad you asked! I have my first weekend getaway wih my family this weekend. I'm nervous. I also have 3 days in Newport in a few weeks. I'll be bring in as much as I can but I'm very nervous about the restaurant eating. I think I need a tattoo on my right hand that says STOP!! Lol
good luck and I can't wait to read the replies!

I travel a ton for work so I've gotten good at this. You've already gotten a ton of great tips! I always grab some mini babybel light cheese with a pack of lean ham at the store (they carry these items even at Walgreens). I ask for a fridge at hotel and toss them in there. This makes for a good meal while at the hotel - the old me would order up room service including dessert! Health Wise makes some great protein chips that I pack for the airplane. Chips can be dangerous so my rule is only on the airplane! Take your own water bottle so you can keep plenty hydrated. I always also pack some PB2. I measure out each serving in a little tupperware container, the way you do your protein powder. Then all I have to do is add cold water and mix (make sure to take a spoon in your purse)! This is an easy meal/snack that you can make anywhere there is access to water. I also always carry a 1tsp measuring spoon and a 1/4cup measuring cup in my bag. Hope this helps!
