hunger?

So I'm 4 days past my surgery (sleeved this past Monday) and I feel pretty good.  I'm not ever hungry.  But I also can't tell when I'm full!  So I'm just really eating tiny portions and keeping track of everything.  I've heard that some people never get hungry again.  I sort of hope that I fall into that category because pre-sleeve I was hungry ALL THE TIME.  My Dr said I could eat real mushy stuff and I was craving refried beans (protein I guess).  I ate just a little bit and I swear my stomach was doing a happy dance.  It was so satisfying and I was satisfied after just 8-10 bites.  I'm so excited to be starting out on this journey!!

Congratulations! I can't wait until I have my surgery. I'm still going through my test, just have my sleep apnea and I'll be done! I have to tell you that I been watching Dr.Alvarez on Youtube and he's got some really informative video's. One particular that I liked was "Hunger after surgery" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndkZudte6J0

Good to hear that you had no problems and things are going good. Good luck on your journey and keep us posted.

Yea, looks like I am one of the unfortunate few who feel "hunger". I am 1.5 weeks out and my stomach literally growls with hunger....sigh

Investigate the possibility that it's not hunger, but acid that you're feeling. Talk to your surgeon about this. A simple fix is to increase the amount of PPI you're taking until things settle in.

I did watch the video and I found it to be an interesting idea. I am currently taking omeprazole 20 mg 2x a day per my surgeons requirements. I do not feel anything like reflux I have felt before-that was like the burn in the throat/chest....

I will ask my surgeon at my 2week check up on Tuesday ans see what he thinks. Thanks for the idea!

At this point your nerves are still healing from being severed during surgery, so you can't really trust anything your stomach says anyway.  Which is why it's super important to weigh everything and stick to your guidelines :D
