I am on my 2 week preop diet and I am also stopping all caffeine. I have had a major headache for 3 days. Does it ever go away?

I've never had caffeine withdrawal last more than a day.  It's probably a combo of the caffeine with the preop diet causing the headache.  Can I suggest that you back off the caffeine slowly?  Have regular coffee today, half caf tomorrow, then decaf, then wean yourself off completely.

Does your plan require you get off coffee?

Yeah, he doesn't want me on caffeine because he says it makes your body work harder to heal. I think I am about to have a half a cup of coffee just because I have a stats exam in two days and I need to study.

Yes, it will end.  Give yourself a few more days.  You can do it!

Caffeine withdrawal was the worst before surgery. Took me about 4-5 days. I gave up soda, sugar, even carbs without much issue. Caffeine was the killer!

Wile on my pre op diet I felt like they took everything away  and  feared next they would ask me to cut my left arm off!     I  weaned myself from coffee slowly and sugar, I had tried before and could not handle the headaches and nausea so I did it slow this time. On the up side post op I have no withdrawal symptoms so I am just dealing with the healing from surgery and the torturous  liquid diet.

If your going through caffeine withdrawals now it the time to wean yourself off slowly rather than cold turkey. I had the same problem. slowly reduce your caffeine during the pre-op. It'll go away. If your healthy the healing should not take long. I now enjoy my decaff coffee black with one splenda. And it's only a temporary thing. We all need atleast one vice in our life.
