Hey everyone!

I'm pretty quiet on the boards because, as a pre-op, I kind of felt like I didn't have much to contribute to the conversations; but, I've been lurking for well over a year now and I check in almost every day, so I feel a certain level of kinship with you all even though you have no idea who I am. =)

I just wanted to put it out there that, after 15 months on the waitlist, I *finally* got a call from the bariatric program and I have my orientation in three short weeks on October 15th! I'm so very excited to start this journey for real now. It could be half a year or more before I get into an OR (the program here is very comprehensive, involving multi-disciplinary specialists and supports), but, thanks to all of you sharing your stories, I feel very ready to finally move into my post-sleeve life when that time comes.

Bring it on, baby!

congrats , it is better to wait and have it done right , during my blood work the found I had a clotting problem that I could have died from the surgery if it was unknown and un treated

the more pre op tests the better

I seen a cardiologist a hematologist(that was scary because it is in a cancer clinic) , endoscope ,colonoscopy , endocrinologist, dietician, physical therapist, shrink , took 9 months to finish all the tests and the required weight loss

It sounds like your program is very similar to mine. I'll know more once I've done orientation, but from reports from those who've completed it, we see most of those same specialists and have many of the same tests. I think it's awesome and I'm glad to know I'll have such a great support network built in.
