I have a cold 5 weeks after VSG
I woke up with a pretty bad cold today. Slight fever, stuffy nose and sneezing. I will try to get in to see a doctor tomorrow but need some relief to sleep better tonight. I am still not on solid food. Question: I have some antibiotics left over which is still good, do you know if antibiotics so soon after surgery is a problem? I am taking over the counter cold medicine today and it helped some.
Sorry you're sick.I was on antibiotics 2 weeks after surgery for an incision that wasn't healing and still got a sore throat and nasty head cold. Would cough all night, and lost my voicefor a couple days. The antibiotics are probably still in your system and I don't think they help with colds, at least that is what I was told.

You shouldn't take old antibiotics. In fact, you shouldn't even have old antibiotics because you're supposed to take them all when prescribed to you.
Stick to Dayquil and Nyquil and see your doc.

antibiotics are not a cure for the common cold. There IS no cure for the common cold,so. You would only be taking medication that won't help for no reason. Colds just have to run their course.
