This will be my first major event/holiday after my sleeve surgery.  What do you guys do?  Just little bits of this and that?

I'm still early out (14 weeks). I plan to have a bit of what I want. I'll start with my protein first, of course, and if I have room collard greens and if I really want it, mac and cheese. I make one hell of a chocolate cake and I am baking coconut pies. I will have a sliver of pie probably. After those chocolate protein shakes the idea of eating more chocolate is still not appealing.

Coconut is the way to my heart. Your pies sound yummy!

I'm cooking a full meal for 18 people.

I'll eat turkey, some veg, a bite of stuffing...I am a "moderation type" so I will taste my favorites even if they are off-plan.

I honestly don't plan for it to be much different than any other day. I will eat some turkey, ham, or both (we usually have both), a deviled egg (those are my FAVE), and a few green beans. I may eat a bite of dressing since it's a once-a-year thing but I'm not really tempted by bready things at this point so I don't feel like I NEED any. I eat a bite of cake here and there, but I'm really sensitive to sugar, so a bite is all I can tolerate even on Turkey day. Otherwise, my plan is proceed normally with my protein shake and 3 protein meals.  I think the biggest challenge for me will be to not graze while cooking and waiting on the meal - mainly because then I won't be able to actually eat when everyone else does.

I'm a little nervous because this will be the first "eating" holiday around my extended family since surgery, so I know they're going to be very curious about what/how much I eat. (I'm very open about my surgery so they all know already.)

April:  HW- 323, SW-310, CW-159 (as of 9/25/15), Goal- 140; Pre-op (-13), M1 (-17), M2 (-16), M3 (-14), M4 (-13), M5 (-12), M6 (-8), M7 (-12), M8 (-8), M9 (-8), M10 (-5), M11 (-7), M12 (-5), M13 (-7), M14 (-0), M15 (-1), M16 (-5), M17 (-5)

I agree with you & I feel like all eyes will be on me when it comes time to eat.

I will eat the turkey, butternut squash, maybe a tsp or two of mashed potatoes, gravy and side veg - all of course in small quantities.  I have trouble with sugar so maybe i'll try to make a sugar free dessert so i don't feel totally deprived, but that will be the hardest part.  However, the distress of eating the desserts is not worth it, so i will be good on that front, whether i want to be or not.

I may be at my in-laws and the stress will likely stop me from eating altogether. :(

I have to work that night, and i have no family within 1,400 miles, so it will be business as usual for me.  Coffee on the way to work, protein shake, water. I'll do thanksgiving in May when i go visit family. Then it will only be small bites!
