Just wanted to share a positive note with everyone - especially those who might be considering VSG.  I had VSG on August 25 and as of today, I have lost 50 lbs. (started pre-op diet in June).  I rec'd my 11/4/2014 bloodwork results yesterday and my total cholesterol is now 173 (208 in June) and triglycerides are 127 (171 in June).  I cried when I saw these results.  I am so happy to be heart-healthy and so very grateful to have had the opportunity to have this surgery.  It has truly been a blessing.

Congrats, that's great!

You know, it's odd, I've done everything that a person is advised to do to reduce their triglycerides and mine are still high.  Very annoying.

I have known several people (including my brother-in-law) who are as skinny as a rail and have never been overweight and their triglycerides out sky-high.  It can be strictly hereditary.  I'm sorry that you are experiencing that phenomenon.  Otherwise, your progress is amazing and very inspiring!

Thanks!  I asked my parents if they'd had a problem with cholesterol, and they said nope.  But I can't help but wondering what their numbers actually are.  Heh.

I'll get retested in February and see how things stand then.  Thankfully they're not high enough that I need medication!
