Post Surgery Allergies are making me miserable!

I got my surgery Nov 3 of this year, I had like 4 days of this boundless energy that was just amazing - then the allergies showed up. There does not seem to be a thing I can do to stop them! I get this post-nasal drip that completely fills my stomach, causing vomiting and dehydration etc, not to mention nausea. I had to go into urgent care today for fluids, I can't keep my prilosec down, or the anti-nausea meds (eyeroll here). Anything I put in the stomach comes right back up again. The only thing I seem to be able to do is water and lemon. I am so frustrated, I am wishing I had never done this surgery.

Perhaps its time to see a physician about your allergies and associated syptoms?

Definitely see an allergist. It is possible that they can start you on a shot regimen to help. At the very least they may be able to give you a shot of Benadryl or a nasal spray to alleviate the immediate symptoms. I hope you feel better.

Being that you had to get fluids at urgent care - there's your contribution to nausea more than the allergies.  Take a benedryl for the nasal drip (half dose-one pill) and start working harder to get 64oz of water every day.  Water and lemon works.  You'll start feeling better once you have that under control.

Definitely see an allergist. I get injections I have a nasal spray I take and only occasionally take a pill. In the meantime you might get some relief with a neti pot. There are very good OTC allergy meds such claritin or Allegra. These were prescription meds until the patents expired. Also keep taking the meds even if you feel better. It is a common mistake to wait until you are symptomatic to take the medications.
