My B12 Levels Are To High
Hi everyone I got my labs back and I was told my b12 level is are high. I was given a choice to take the shot once a month. Or take b12 pills I chose the shot. The new nurse at first told me that they might want to lower my dosage. But then I asked her was my b12 being high was it detrimental to my health she stated no and my body will take what it needs and get rid of the rest. Then why is my b12 still high if that is how it works? I think I need to call my primary doctor what do you think?
Hello mickeymantle I was given a choice between shots and pills I chose the shot because I was already taken a variety of pills and I was having trouble remembering to take them. So I thought the shot would be one less pill for me to remember. I am not worried about if they are chea*****t that's not a issue remembering to take them is.
Not sure how the shots work, maybe your blood was drawn close to when you got the shot so your levels were high? I use the B12 tablets that dissolve under my tongue. My levels were high too so now I only take them 3 times per week. They are cheap, easy and taste good.....I agree with previous poster, why do shots? Unless your surgeon has some specific reason why you need the shots I say try the tablets or drops.
Is there b12 in any of the supplements you're taking? I had high b6 on my last labs and realized that the BCAAs I was using were likely the culprit. So I'd check my shakes and stuff to make sure I'm not getting b12 from unexpected sources :)
