Preparing for Winter Exercise - Ideas?

I'll be having my sleeve likely in February (in the pre-approval stages right now).  I know that exercise isn't necessary for weight loss initially, but I know walking is critical to recovery.  Do you have suggestions on what to do during the winter months to get in that critical walking during the healing process?

I know there are malls and stores I can walk in, but I'm looking for other ideas too since leaving my home office (I work from home) sometimes proves challenging on days I have 6-8 hours of conference calls.

Thanks,

JC

Mine was in March and I just bundled up a lot. Lots of layers for walking up and down my street.

Yeah the cold doesn't bother me much but our winter was so horrible last year with heavy snow and ice. I'm mostly looking for things to do when getting outside isn't the safest option!! Thanks Gwen!!

Put on a blue tooth and pace in the house.  If you have stairs, you can go up and down a few times.  Once it's warmer, you'll be feeling fabulous and itching to enjoy things outside of the house.

I had my surgery at the end of October last year (hit goal at 11 months).  I entered one of the worst winter seasons.  Besides bundling up and going outside if it was not too windy or cold, I also did a lot of walking in malls.  I also used the Wii DVDs and still do that today (if it's raining, like today).  There is plenty to select from that include walking/marching as well as dancing.  Best of luck!!

Our winter was horrible too. I will go outside in the cold to walk mostly but on days the weather makes it unsafe, the Wii is a great suggestion! Thanks!!

I don't have one, but I hear there is a little gadget that can fit under your desk which is a little bike you can pedal. Seems like a good idea for the desk bound, or those with knee problems which prevent them from standing for long periods of time.

If you can't leave your home, I'd say a treadmill is your best option.  I very much prefer walking outside and I just bundle up and go out in the cold.  Just did about a mile this morning, my first walk in the snow.  I had a pair of flannel pants under my jeans and two pair of socks and snow boots and my winter coat and scarf and gloves.  I was warm enough.
