One month out summary!
Today I’m officially one month out! Let me preface this by saying I feel very lucky as I had no complications during or after surgery. I have found this month to be way easier than what I was expecting. I was given great advice on this website and that advice along with the weight loss center fully prepared me. I walked as soon as I could post op and walked all thru my night in the hospital. As soon as my test leak came back I began sipping and I haven’t stopped . Once at home I followed my doctor’s instructions and there has been no looking back. Liquids two weeks before and one week after aren’t a huge deal (I know there are different plans). It’s ONLY three weeks and its pretty minuscule in the big picture. I returned to work a week after surgery and there were no issues with my return.
I say it has been easy, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have struggles! I find my routine at work a breeze, I can get 64 ounces of water in by the time I get home from work & I can eat my breakfast and lunch slowly at my desk. My problem is the weekends, I don’t have a structure and I’m always so busy that it’s hard getting my water and protein in. I’m trying to figure out a better plan. My other struggle is eating slowly. I have all day at work to take my time and eat, but home is another story! I don’t have 45 minutes to sit down and eat my dinner. I take care of my parents and that is my 2nd full time job. I can take those 45 minutes and go to the gym. I don’t have nearly enough time at night to accomplish everything required of me. Since surgery I have also been going to bed about an hour earlier so sleep is playing a factor as well. I can’t get a great night routine down, but recently switched my breakfast shake to a dinner shake. That has freed up a little time. If these are my biggest issues I consider myself lucky!
A few good things have happened! My edema in my right foot/ankle is gone. I no longer have headaches! My energy level is up and I feel wonderful!!!
So here are a few stats. I was 291 the day my liquid diet started, I was 279 the morning of surgery and this past Thursday (check up with surgeon) I was 260. I don’t own a scale and eventually I will as I think it will be important to keep myself in check. I started at a size 22 and right now I’m wearing my old 18’s & 20’s.
I do find myself missing salad, cantaloupe, being able to crunch & grilled cheese. I thought for sure I’d be missing sweets as I was a sweetsaholic!! My cravings are very strange! Lol!!
I have read where people still see their old self when losing weight! I don’t!!! haha! I see I only have one chin now. I have attached a pic from the day before my liquid diet at 291 and one from this past weekend at 260 (yes I have spanx on)!
I know this is a long road. I have a ton of steam right now & I’m hoping I don’t lose it anytime soon! I know it won’t always be easy, but I love the way it has started! This board is a fantastic….I have learned so much and the support is awesome!
