I just had surgery on Monday. Still feel some pain, more achy around the incision sites and get grumblings of gas. Once i pass gas feel better. Also have to drink sitting up slowly to let liquids settle. Walking also helps with pain. My surgeon said if you feel pain in your chest or have a temperature go to er. But to expect pain in stomach. He told me people think there is no pain with laproscopic but it is painful. I also want to know when pain goes away?
It could simply be gas that has lodged in the nooks and crannies after surgery. They blow you up like a balloon for lap procedures.
I also know that some docs hang the patient by their rib cage during surgery, but I think that's open if that occurs.

I am 2+ weeks out from surgery and had alot of discomfort with more then just the surgical site. Pushing myself(and my wife pushing me as well) to walk really resolved it for me. the more your up and moving the more gas you can get rid of. Walk as much as you can tolerate and things will sort themselves out.
At this point the only discomfort I have at all is my IV site in my hand :)
Walking helped alleviate it for me.

I'm sure it is more painful than the band was because you had so much done internally compared to the band. It does sound like gas but hard to tell I would try to walk all you can but never be afraid to call your surgeon when in doubt. Maybe you need better or different pain meds. Hoping you feel better soon!!!
