Protein when the day is not completely in your control
Hi all,
Well, I had to get fasting blood work done this morning and due to incredible incompetence at the blood drawing place ( I am tempted to just get an appointment at the Drs and pay the fee) I didn't get to eat anything until nearly 11am. Since that means I skipped two of my protein meals today and I am really behind on protein. Now, I am only 7 weeks out and I don't have enough capacity to make up the deficiency and there is not really enough time to add a meal, do you think it would be OK to replace some of my between meal liquids with a protien shake or is this just kidding myself; that means you added a meal.
Adding a meal seems like a slippery slope to me. but not getting enough protein for today is also troubling.
Thanks in advance.
Well, my plan is to eat three meals a day. If I wasn't able to get my first one until 11am, I'd still have my three meals, I'd just eat the first one at 11am. Probably my next one at 3pm and my last one at 7-8pm. These are actually almost my normal meal times anyway. :)

I am 14 weeks out today and I am still having a hard time getting all of my protein in and my NUT suggested that I add three cups of milk in a day. that would give me more protein and I would be getting my liquid intake in. I hate milk, but I add a little strawberry or chocolate nestle into them and they are fine. maybe that could work for you along with your three meals a day and you will not only get your protein but you will stay full.
3 cups of milk plus nestle seems like an awful lot of added/unnecessary carbs and sugar. And at 14 weeks out, why are you having a hard time getting all of your protein in with solid foods?

I use just a little nestle and it is sugar free. I also use skim milk and it is more for the protein because each glass gives me 9 grams of protein times three times a day gives me 27 gram of protein toward my 60. I am still getting adjusted to my new stomach so I am not hungry or sometimes things still do not want to stay down so this is still something that I am trying to get use to. my NUT stated that this is common and that in a few weeks I will adjust even more. the problem also happens to be is that I was not getting enough fluids in so when I did eat I was staying full long than I needed because of the lack of fluids. now that I am getting my 64 in my appetite has gone up.
That seems like a strange choice to me. I'd rather have a high protein, low carb protein shake to get the same amount of protein in 8 ounces and without all the carbs that milk has. (I'd be drinking whole milk, since dietary fat is an important part of a healthy diet.)
It's interesting to me how different plans have such different recommendations.
