Do you think you'll make it to GOAL?

A co-worker complimented me then asked if I think I will "hit my number" ... if I will reach my goal weight.  I said, "Absolutely!"  She was taken aback and asked if the sweet period of weight loss wasn't over. From what I've heard, people usually lose a lot of weight in the first 6-9 months and after the first year, it slows significantly.  Christmas Eve will be exactly 6 months.  I have lost 90 pounds and want to lose another 30 more.  Once I hit that, I will re-evaluate and may lose 11-15 more.  Unbeknownst to her, I have been struggling to get to One-derland.  This morning, the scale read 200.8 lbs.  Sooooo cloooooose!

I did not feel the panic that I usually feel thinking about my sweet time ticking away.  I am following the rules, logging everything, meeting my protein and water goals each day, taking vitamins, going to the gym, doing Zumba and moving much more.  I go to counseling and discuss my fears of not losing it all and the feared regain.  I also read this board, which helps a lot.

This surgery was made for me.  I am a mostly healthy eater with a ravenous appetite.  I was never full before this surgery.  Never.  Now that I can control my portion sizes, I am extremely optimistic.

6 months has more to do with diet fatigue than anything. Just keep eating clean, logging, exercising, yadda yadda yadda and it will happen. I lost at the same rate in months 7 and 8, and I feel pretty confident that I could have kept it goiong had I needed to. You have lost a lot- congrats!!

I KNOW I will make my goal.  Because I'm stubborn and I'm not going to accept anything less.  It might take another 2 years, but I will get there.  I might not decide to stay there, but I WILL get there.

Congrats on your loss so far.  :)  I've lost 120 lb so far and I've been bouncing around 199 since right before Thanksgiving.  So annoying :P  Especially since I've got 80 pounds still to go!

I'm confident that I'll make it to my goal.  Even if it takes me YEARS, I will get there.

I think my goal is realistic considering my starting weight and how long I've been SMO.  So far this isn't a difficult lifestyle change to make.  I still have my moments of stupidity when it comes to food, but I try to be more mindful of what I eat than I've ever been in the past.  It's a matter of commitment and not expecting short term miracles.

Congratulations on losing 90 pounds!  That's great progress and you sound like you've got all your ducks in a row.  I see SUCCESS all over you.

You can reach goal.  The weight loss does slow over time, but it doesn't stop.  If you follow your plan, you can reach whatever weight you want.   I lost 50 pounds pre-surgery, and 90 my first six months.  Then I went on to lose another 85, surpassing first my Doctor's goal and then my own goal and then an additional 20 pounds.  You can do this!  This weight loss surgery really works.

best wishes,

Carol

As long as you continue with your plan of eating there's no reason you can't be at your goal in 6 months or less.  You'll do it!
