Thanks all for your responses....that was about an hour and a half of torture....awful! It almost felt like the earlier days - which also was only ever occurring when I had chicken. I can eat chicken no problem...but for some reason, I must eat it too fast or a bit too much, I don't know. My problem with meat (especially chicken) is that I don't notice the "cue" to stop before it's already gotten to a bad place...eesh.
Anyway, good to know that there is serious restriction still going on! It also clearly demonstrated to me that this restriction is hugely different with protein than with any other type of food.
All better now...was able to drink water almost 2hrs later and didn't eat one more thing!!
BrendaRae, I didn't know what they were until after my surgery. Someone explained them and then...low and behold, after a meal where I didn't pay good attention, I UNDERSTOOD.
Foamies are a big influx of saliva/mucus/GERDy stuff. The consistency varies by person, but it bubbles up from your esophagus and it's incredibly uncomfortable. Essentially yes, it's gastric reflux. But it feels... different than it did pre-op.
You know how you hyper-salivate right before you vomit? It's like that.....on steroids. I only experienced it twice in the first year. Didn't throw up either time, but spent more time than I cared to leaning over the sink foaming like a mad dog. And it hurts. Stomach spasming hurt. Try to avoid it.
For me, it was yogurt both times. Yes, it was a measured portion, but your stomach capacity varies from day to day, or even meal to meal. So don't count on the fact that you SHOULD be able to eat that amount because you've done it before.
