Being Proactive
Hi everyone!
I'm just wondering if there is anything else I can do now. I started my journey in Florida and had met with a surgeon, nutritionist, and psychologist. I had blood work done, I'm walking regularly, and reading and watching everything I can online and on YouTube. I know that I will have to meet with a new psychologist and maybe a new nutritionist and have blood work again. I meet with my new surgeon Jan 5. Is there anything else I can do now? I feel ready for surgery, but I want to be as prepared as I can. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Sounds like you're on your way, Congrats! I'd try practicing not eating & drinking at the same time. Most if not all post ops have to do this. Get in at least the 64 oz of water everyday & whenever you eat wait at least a half hour to 45 minutes b4 you start drinking again. Good luck on your upcoming surgery!

My docs told me 4 things before surgery:
- 64 oz of water daily
- No drinking at meals (wait 30 minutes...got the Bariatric Timer app on my phone and use it religiously!)
- 3 oz of protein 3 times a day...always eat it first!
- Exercise 3 days a week 10 minutes a day (I went to almost an hour a day 4-5 days a week before surgery)
I have kept to those (with the post-op protein limitations) and have not had any problems in the past 8 weeks that I didn't cause myself by eating too much or too fast! Get ready for what is to come...and you'll be ready when it gets here! Best of luck!
About two months before surgery I started working to replace "meals I ate alone" with protein shakes. This meant that, on most days, I was having a shake for breakfast and lunch and then a normal dinner with my family. It was food for me - I lost weight and it helped my mindset.
I also found a therapist and started seeing her once a week. This has also helped immensely throughout the entire weight loss process for me. It can really screw with the head and having a therapist is wonderful.
