New Years Day is traditionally Junk Food Day for my family.  But it has morphed over the years into Appetizer Day.

If you were making a VSG-friendly appetizer to celebrate Appetizer Day, what would you make?

I think I am going to try this: http://www.realsimple.com/m/food-recipes/browse-all-recipes/spinach-pesto-dip

I used to make a cheeseball with underwood deviled ham, sharp cheddar cheese and cream cheese, pretty good in protein, but fat too.

What about stuffed mushrooms? You could stuff them with crab and hold the breadcrumbs, so they would be quite a bit more WLS friendly than some of the recipes floating around.

You could bake or barbecue some spicy chicken wings-the kind without breading from actual chickens instead of the kind made from random chicken parts and stuff.

Mini crustless quiches. Make them in muffin tins and you can customize them to your liking.

Meat and vegetable kabobs. You could make them with virtually anything.

I fight badgers with spoons.

We do tidbits for New Year too! Caprese Skewers are easy and usually first to go... fresh mozzarella balls, basil, tomato, I drizzle with pesto sauce.

Take a frozen meatball and wrap in bacon.  Either bake or put on the grill until the bacon is crispy.  My bbq-brethren call them moink balls.
