Pre-op

Hey everyone. I am hoping to have a surgery date by the end of this month! :) I have to meet with the dietitian and then I was told I would have a date within a week! Anyways my doctor has requested that I use Bariatric Advantage for my pre-op diet. But I was wondering if anyone has found anything similar to BA but at a cheaper price? My SIL had the surgery with the same surgeon and just used Whey protein from Walmart and was fine.. But I am a little nervous about that. It would save about 40 dollars though and my surgeon said that after surgery he doesn't require you to use the BA brand, which I thought was strange.. So what are some good meal replacement brands?

It's largely a matter of personal taste.  Nashau Nutrition is a great site for ordering samples so you can see what you'll like.

I, personally, use Optimum Nutrition Double Rich Chocolate.  I love the stuff.  I mix it with unsweetened original almond milk.

Thank you. I will look up that site. I am hoping I can find one I like that I can buy in stores. It is just easier that way. I ordered some samples of the Bariatric Advantage since my surgeon said that is what I have to have pre op.

Hi, you could also try EAS Myoplex Lite/Carb Control, GNC Total Lean shake 25, Isopure (low carb), Unjury, Chike. Isopure has also zero carb protein drinks, which are pretty good. The goal is to take high protein, fat free and low carb stuff. I have my surgery scheduled for Jan 19th and can't wait! :)

Yay for surgery date!! Thank you I will check those out as well. I have the EAS in stores and worked with a woman several years ago that drank those!

Isopure is the worst tasting drink in this or any universe!  Try samples of anything you want but don't over buy for post surgery because products you can tolerate now can really turn you off post surgery. Collect lots of samples instead.  Also, try to make sure that the protein you are drinking has less than 200 cals a serving and at least 15 grams of Whey Protein Isolate (not just Whey Protein).

I have heard that things can taste different afterwards! Right now I am trying to find one for pre op too. I have to do the shakes for 10 days before surgery. I am just hoping I can stomach them before and after surgery! My step sister could not drink the protein at all. It made her throw up within minutes.

I was fine with almost everything pre, but post surgery everything with protein made me sick.
