Insurance approvals, surgery dates and travel

hey all, so I have 2 more months until we submit everything into my insurance for approval. How long does approval normally take? Also after approval, would the surgery date have to be scheduled asap?

Anyway so I bad originally planned my surgery to be done in March but My friends and I are planning a trip to the Dominican republic the second week of April for 4 days. Would it be better to do the surgery after my trip? 

I went to Aruba 5 weeks post op and did just fine.  I packed ready-to-drink protein shakes in my suitcase.  I hit the supermarket day one and got a box of sugar free popsicles.  I was able to eat delicious soups and fish.  As far as energy, I was definitely still healing but was able to swim and walk around every day just fine.  I don't drink alcohol so that was and still is a non-issue for me. If you plan on partying, I'd say have the surgery afterwards.
