the operation went well, some gas pain and burping is rather painful and I'm still loaded on the anesthetic. I've been doing a few laps round the eard and feeling a bit unsteady. Otherwise doing great and hoping I'll be able to get some solid sleep.

both surgeons have checked on me several times as well as well as the anesthesiologist. The nurses check in one every half hour or so.

Congratulations! I am glad to hear everything is going well for you. I plan to see Dr Alvarez next month and its good to see someone do so well right after surgery.

I was sleeved on Dec 22nd. I never had nausea, which was my biggest worry, but I did have "the foamies" twice. That's when your mouth fills up with saliva like you're going to be sick but then you're not. It happened the first time I got up to walk, and then the first time I tried the broth on the day after surgery. I think it took my stomach a minute to adjust to the taste. As they say, you'll have to add foods back in one at a time and see what you can tolerate. It sounded boring to me, but believe me, it has been anything but that! Every time I add a food back in, it is like tasting it for the first time! So, instead of thinking, "Oh, yuk - broth AGAIN" after surgery, I was thinking, "Oh boy! I get to try chicken broth!" The following week when I got to the cream of chicken soup, I thought I was in taste bud heaven. I have never had it before. Where has it been all of my life? Toward the end of the week, I was adding in Montreal Steak Seasoning (before running it through the strainer). Then I got really brave and tried putting two spoons of mashed potatoes, just to see if I would have to get used to that, or would have trouble getting it down. No problem! I wish you the best, and really - you'll be glad you did this. My only regret is not doing this 10 years ago.

No pain from the little dips I get from the ice chips. The only pain has been the burping, and it's already 50% less painful that yesterday. I am relaxed mentally but my shoulders and stomach are tense, it actually takes me maybe

3 minutes to relax enough to release my bladder. Very strange but I'm sure it will pass.

Thanks everyone! I'm well into day 2 and just starting on ice chips. My internal temperature is all over the place, hot and cold, and I had a little bleeding from the main incision, but the only pain is from gas. Dr Alvarez seems very happy and says everything went perfectly and I'm looking good. They capped my IV and I'm not particularly hungry despite 48+ of no food, I'm just looking forwRd to some broth tomorrow because I think it's going to help move the gas through. I have gasx strips but was told not to use them yet.

the only downside is I cannot get more than a few minutes sleep at a time despite being exhausted. Can't wait to get home and get on the treadmill. Dr Alvarez says he expects me to hit goal in 8 months.

pretty damn exciting.
