day 2

Day 2 was awful. I slept almost all day. I thought the days were supposed to get better. I was supposed to go home today, but that's not going to happen. They kept giving me nausea medication but it's not working well. And the only pain pill they want to give me is what I thought made me nauseas. I'm in so much hurt, can't sleep well, and frankly I don't think it's going to get better.

It will get better. My husband had the same issue w/nausea -- they injected him with everything, the only thing that provided relief was the little sea sickness patch.  See if they can give you that.  I had them put it on me BEFORE surgery and never had an issue with nausea at all.  Hang in there!

My plan was not to go home until day 3 and I don't think I would have been ready on day 2 and I had no real issues with surgery or nausea.  Hang in there and it will get better.  There are plenty of people on here who will say they felt like dirt for 2 weeks and feel great now.

Hang in there. Day 2 and 3 were the worst for me and each day after that was better. By the end of the first week I was about 80% better and by two weeks I felt great. It will get better. I stopped all pain meds on day two because of the nausea. They gave me Tylenol and that helped with the pain and caused no nausea.

When I had band surgery, I felt awful for about a week, and I was also certain that I would not get better. Sleeve surgery is more extensive, so it may take a little longer for you to feel yourself again, but it will happen.

What you're feeling is "normal" for the kind of surgery you had. Some people sail through it without much problem; some have it tougher. Your job now is simply to endure, follow directions for water and protein, and wait with hope for better days. They will come. I promise.

Hang in there. I'm one week post op and I'm doing great. Getting off the narcs helped me, because I think they added to my nausea and vomiting. I asked for a Scopolamine patch the morning of my surgery which I kept on for 72 hours.

As as everyone says, " sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk". What a huge difference that has made.

You will sing a totally different tune in 1-2 weeks.

Good luck!

Things will get better - but not right away.  You're recovering from major surgery and that takes time!  Demand other pain options.  You should not be suffering with either pain or nausea.  Ask to see your surgeon if the nurses refuse.

Hi, day 4 post op here....I know what your feeling. It will get better I swear. My morphine pump didn't work for me so they gave me something else. Make sure you demand options. I also got an itchy reaction from another med and had to be given benadryl. Sip and walk those gas bubbles out of you can. I still have gas pain but far less than the first 3 days. Good luck. We are here for you.
