My second week and I am already so frustrated.
This is only my second week post-op and I already want to pull my hair out. I am so frustrated with trying to be able to get all the water and protein in I need and not being able to. I sip all day and all it does is make me burp which drives me even more nuts. I take gas x which doesn't help with the burping at all. Also, I feel like I am always so tired and in the worst mood. I am thankful I was blessed enough to have the surgery but right now I am so frustrated with the way I feel. Is anyone else who was recently sleeved experiencing this?
Hey! I got done the day after you. I am struggling with getting the water and protein all in. It takes me over an hour or more to get one shake down. I just figure as long as I'm drinking slowly, still peeing and feeling ok I'm good. I realized if intake big sips, that makes me burp. I'm trying smaller sips. I am tired a lot but I try to rest as much as I can. You have to remember you had MAJOR surgery. Hang in there! It will get better. Keep in touch!
I can relate to all you are feeling. But just give yourself some time. It will get better soon. I found the post-op period, especially the first month, difficult. Certainly not fun, but it was manageable. It will be so worth it in the long run when you lose some weight and have more energy and the co-morbidities disappear.
Hang in there.

Hey Melanie!
Have you tried warm water with lemon? that was very helpful for me. It was as if the warm water soothed my insides and went down easier. I started taking nexium, and that was a help. In the hospital all i did was burp and throw up. But after about 5 days I was able to keep stuff down. I occasionally burp after water, but it tends to be just when it's cold water. I know we have similar surgery dates, so it might be the blind leading the blind, but that's what helped me.
A lot of people find that drinking with straws helps them to swallow less air when drinking. I would try a straw and see if it helped with the burping.
