Will this really work?

I started the pre-op diet on 2/27, surgery on 3/13.  As of 3/31 I am down 21 lbs.  I feel really well...but I am getting nervous!  I have been doing too well.  No nausea...not really feeling like I have had surgery at all.  I am eating less, (approx 600-700 cals per day) but starting to get hungry in the evenings.  I am still in the puree stage but I am starting to wonder if the sleeve will really work long term.  I know this is a tool and not a fix.  Am I having zero issues because it did not work?

it works.  Don't let old doubts crawl into your head.  Stay the course and work it to the best of your abilities.

At this point hunger is most often caused by acid.  Are you taking a PPI such as prilosec or nexium?

I think we all have these fears.  I know I did.  And here I am, 12.5 months post-op, 15 months post-lifestyle change, and I've lost 135 pounds.  (I didn't lose, or gain, any weight in March... but I know why.  My sleeve didn't stop working - I did.)

it is probably acid

also when you start solid food a few oz of chicken or meat will keep you full for a long time , the soft stuff goes right through you

I thought the same thing after surgery. It's one year for me today and im just sbout at goal. Down 82 pounds. I had no problems post op either everything went smooth for me as well. No pain really. I was just tender. Took no pain meds maybe once a day for the first 3 days snd then nothing after that

I can assure you, the sleeve works long term.  Well, if you consider 15 months long term

But YOU have to make the commitment to change your dietary habits.  Are you taking a PPI?  Sometimes stomach acid mimics hunger and taking a PPI can prevent that from occurring.

I had zero issues as well after surgery.  But I followed my surgeon's plan to the letter and the weight came off.  It took several months before my joint pain resolved and I was able to start exercising regularly, but having this surgery was so worth it.  I'm not at my goal yet, but will continue to work on it.  You will lose the majority of your weight in the early stages after surgery, so take advantage of this fantastic window of opportunity.

It will work.  Because of the nerve damage from the surgery, you don't have the same full feeling at that point, but it will come! check out my recent post and before/after pics

I am taking Prilosec daily but I did not know acid could cause me to feel hungry. I have been pureeing chili and refried beans with salsa. I wonder if the spices are contributing to that. Thanks everyone for the encouragement.
