Bubbles

Good Morning

I am 4 days post op. I came home yesterday. Each day I feel a little bit better. However, I am having this issue when i drink or take medicine. After drinking or taking a small pill I'll get this little pain in my stomach. It is kind of like a cramp. Maybe it is a gas bubble. I take a deep breath and it goes away. I just want to make sure it is not a bigger problem than I am making it out to be. My doc told me to drink as much water as possible. Am I drinking too fast?  Is it because there is still so much gas from the surgery?  Ideas?  Thanks!

I used to get a cramp like feeling when I drank cold liquids, so I switched to room temperature.  (6 months out, I still drink room temperature liquids). It is so soon after your surgery, so it could be a lot of different things.  Hopefully you will get better advice. Good luck and feel better!

It sounds like you're drinking too fast or swallowing air.  Try using a straw instead - for some people, that works better.

Thanks for the suggestions. My surgeon said straws are generally bad but ok if you don't gulp. I actually forgot about the straw thing, drank out of it for abit and it didn't seem to bother me. I'll also try the room temp thing. That could be it. I appreciate your ideas so much. My first support group meeting isn't for a few weeks and those first few days can be pretty scary. There are so many things happening. It's nice to have this group for some support. :)
