Hard time with Chicken Breast

24 days out. Past all post op restrictions.

Tried a small amount of chicken breast tonight. Chewed thoroughly and ate slowly. Came back up 5 minutes later…partially. Not a great experience. No other foods have done that to date?

Seems dryer foods are more difficult to pass so far? Is It possible that chicken is just to dry? Or would this just be a temporary issue as the operation gets further behind me?

Feel awesome BTW. Lighter and really no Post op Pain any longer at all. Better every day!

You've hit the nail on the head with dryness being the issue.  It's hard to get chicken breast to be moist, I tend to always eat it with a sauce these days.

Thanks for the advice. Will give that a try

Was thinking of striking that off the menu forever? Newbie reaction I guess?

Forever's a long time, haha!  We tend to think that what we're going through RIGHT NOW is going to be the way it will always be.  Not so much. You might try it again in a couple months with a completely different result.

Chicken is difficult for most people at first. Deli meat is easier, ham or chicken. It's moist, and if you get it sliced very thin, it chews up very well. After deli meats, the next thing I tried was beef tenderloin. The filet is moist and very tender, and easier than chicken breast.

It was a very long time before I could do chicken breast .  I used skinless, boneless thighs and cooked them with a can of mushroom soup or any cream soup you like like broccoli, etc. You can do it in the slow cooker but I did mine in the oven on a slow heat with a lid on the pot.   Moist and delish even cold and so easy.

I only eat beef tenderloin and pork.

Chicken is tough early on but the rotisserie chickens from the store are very moist because it bastes itself in its own juices.

your better off with dark meat chicken and turkey at first

there are lots of recipes for cooking chicken in a slow cooker that makes it soft anf moist and easier to digest

For the first 4+ months I couldn't eat fish - go figure!  But eventually I could eat all forms of protein.  Beef tenderloin and a pork chop were easy for me at first.  Just be careful with how you moisten - sauces can be fat and calorie heavy.

Ditto what everyone else says about dryness. Personally, I prefer chicken thighs to chicken breasts. I almost never eat chicken breasts. They get overcooked and dry too easily.
