The home stretch is the hardest stretch (and some pics!)

Hi, all!

As so many others that have come before me have done, my posting has gotten less frequent as time has gone by. Life gets busy, weight loss slows down and is less of a priority... I hit a self-imposed stall a month ago (carb creep and a bit too much evening grazing), but I finally lost another pound this week for a grand total of 149 pounds lost. So close to that -150 I can taste it!

On one hand, I'm happy with where I'm at. I'm the healthiest I've been in my whole life. I no longer have to worry about fitting anywhere - chairs, airplanes, amusement parks, etc. I'm almost at the point where I don't even think about that stuff anymore. I can run 6+ miles and training for a half marathon. I get told daily how great I look. :) And, honestly, I've gotten a little tired of thinking (more like obsessing)about weight loss.

But, I'm not done. My BMI is still just over 30. I know BMI isn't a completely reliable metric of health, but I don't have the muscle mass to justify an obese BMI as healthy. I'll, for sure, be a better, faster runner at a lower weight. I want to be in single-digit clothing sizes (totally my vanity talking here!).

I know that weight loss/management isn't going to get any easier as time goes on, so I want to lose as much as I can now. My resolve to lose the rest of the weight has to be greater than the level of complacency I've been at for the last month. I never went completely off the rails, thankfully. I just need to tighten things up and minimize "treats".

I'm rambling here, but I guess I want to use this post to 1) be accountable for strengthening my resolve to finish what I started, and 2) re-emphasize to the newbies and pre-ops that the journey doesn't have to be over at one year post-op, but it is a lot harder (this is especially for the heavier starting weights like me that may not reach goal weight in one year).

And a few pics:

Before (or, more accurately, about 2 weeks post-op. So not quite my highest weight.)

Same great smile in the before and after. :D You look really great, and it sounds like you're getting your head in the right place. The whole concept of "treats" is kinda tricky. The more I just don't think about food in that way, the easier it is for me. The wonderful new experiences (like running!) are the true treats. Good luck with your training!
