peripheral neuropathy in feet . . . will surgery help?
I have had numbness in my feet (mostly toes) for about 4 years. Will losing weight help with or alleviate that problem? I do not have diabetes. Wondering if anyone has had this issue. They performed a nerve conduction study about 3 years ago and simply told me it might be pre-diabetes symptoms?

I have had Peripheral Neuropathy due to type 2 diabetes for 18 years...
the surgery has not helped me...
my poditrist said..once the damage is done it can't be undone...
but the surgery HAS brought my countless other medical issues
ie: the type 2, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high tryglycerides
all into remission...not to mention given me my life back..happier and healthier...
I had/have peripheral neuropathy as a side effect from chemotherapy. Losing weight has definitely helped reduce the numbness in my feet. They aren't 100% normal, but I'd say back to 90%.
It's impossible to say how it will affect you, but there's always hope.

I have had PN for about five years.......unknown source. 
I used to have the pins and needles along with weakness. Prior to surgery, I was using a wheelchair to get to my meetings. Since then, it has changed. Don't have pins and needles, but still have the weakness and balance issues. My legs have always felt like dead-weight too. But, now I'm able to just use a cane. So, it's not gone, but has changed -- and I have no idea whether or not it's related to the surgery. BTW -- was your Nerve Conduction Study as miserable as mine?? It was a.g.o.n.y.!!
