How many months post op are you and are you still taking  acid reducer meds? Was reading an article how acid is supposed to be good and taking acid reducer increases vitamin deficiencies. I'm wondering how long I need to take it, will ask my surgeon on my next visit.

My surgeon required that I take them six months after surgery.  However, I've developed heart burn - something I never had prior to surgery - so I continue taking them daily.  There's no harm taking them, although he said they lose their efficacy after about five years.

My dr prescribed mine for 6 months. After they ran out I lasted one week before I was back on them. Not a fun week.

Im 10.5 months out and I take one every three days.  If I stop altogether I feel hungry often.  Early on I need them everyday or I had wicked heart burn.
