i STAYED IN THE HOSPITAL  for 2 nights and had iv pain killers till I had my leak test the second morning then liquid pain killers

felt like I wa**** by a train for the first few minutes waking up then the the pain meds kicked in gas pay on and off after that , walking and hot towels control that pain

my hubby had to majer open surgeries with little pain , so every one is different everyone I know that had this surgery says they would do it again in a second

your more scared of the pain than its worth , they use great pain meds these days

Thank you,I wish my dr kept you in the hospital for at least one night but he sends you home that same day I think that makes me more nervous .

Hi,

I had an easy surgery and little pain and no nausea (thanks to the strong anti-nausea drugs I asked for). I did not need anything stronger than Tylenol for the pain.  I stayed only one night in the hospital, and could easily have gone home the same day.

So try not to worry.  You'll be more comfortable at home, and they will give you meds for the pain.

best of luck,

Carol

I stayed one night and WISHED I could have gone home the same day!  I got no rest in the hospital and was actually more comfortable at home with my pain meds.  Just remember that the hospital won't release you if they don't feel you're doing ok.

I ma three years post-op sleeve. Everyone's post-op experience will be different. in my case I had no post-op pain. I didn't even take Tylenol. I took myself off anti-nausea meds the first night ( my surgeon says that they have gotten so good with meds that , usually , they no longer have experienced much post-op nausea). There was a slight amount of discomfort from one surgical site, but it was minor.

Every one is different, but I was fine at home with tylenol w/ codeine for a few days and then good to go pain wise by the end of the week.  If you're in significant uncontrollable pain, I'm sure the doctor will do the right thing and keep you at the hospital.
