How long is too long for no BM?

I am 6 days out from sleeve gastrectomy and haven't had a BM since 2 days before surgery. I know I am not eating anything solid but shouldn't I still be going?  I'm wondering if this is normal or not?? Any advice?

I would ask your dr. I think it was about a week before I had a bowel movement.

See your Dr as soon as you can. That is way too long.

1 week is normal no solid foods in  and the pain killers slow down your intestines , then expect diarrhea, very common till you eat solid foods , so don't go traveling anywhere there is no bathroom close

You need to talk to your doctor and start something to counter constipation which is very common with the post-op diet.  I still need to take miralax daily, and I'm over 2 years post op.

best wishes,

Carol

Try a mild stool softener like Milk of Magnesia, drink lots more, ingest some fat and get off pain meds if you're still taking them (pain meds tend to constipate)

Talk to your doctor.  some bariatric patients need medication to go after surgery.  (temporary)    I was prescribed Linzess and it makes me go with no pain.
