I had my surgery on Wednesday. I am aggressive with my verbal responses to people. Everything is bothering me. What's going on?

Everything you know is different now. For me my stress coping mechanism was gone. My schedule changed, I couldn't just do what I wanted I had to follow a regiment. Give yourself a week or two to settle in and you will be fine.

Could be a side effect of anesthesia, which will stay with you for a while. Later on, it will (or could) also be a side effect of weight loss, as fat cells are where some hormones are stored, and as the cells decrease the hormones are released into the bloodstream.

Your body and mind are both going through radical changes. And your old coping mechanism, food, is gone. There is also a process usually referred to as hormone dumping, where all the hormones that were stored in fat is being released.

This will pass, but it takes a while.

You just had major surgery. You won't feel like yourself again for at least a few more weeks. My response was sink into a slough of self-pity so deep I felt sure I'd never crawl out of it. No matter what your responses are, recovering from sleeve surgery is no picnic.

I had my surgery last Tuesday. At one point I was feeling the same....it does get better. Hang in there.

I was SO annoyed by everything when coming off pain meds. A friend of mine who deals with family members who are addicted to pain pills, she said that is very common to be highly irritable coming off of pain meds. Once I was off for a while, it went away...mostly
