I am three weeks post op and in soft food phase...tolerating everything well but all the protein has me craving salad....something I never ate before....if I keep out carrots and stuff would a small salad be OK????

Hey Wendi

I am only 2 weeks post op, so I have no experience. My Dr said 3 months on raw veggies.

Any chance you could do a wilted  salad?  Just an idea

The roughage could make you really sick this early out.  Most plans say three months.  Check your plan.  I thought of my new pouch as a newborn baby and babied it.

That's what I've told my husband!  "When thinking about food or eating, just think of me as a newborn baby."

Oh, I know how much you're craving fresh produce! During my recovery phase, the lack of veg and fruit was almost harder to take than the taste of those damned protein shakes. Follow your surgeon's plan. When your sleeve is healed, you'll be able to indulge your salad cravings.

At about a month out I had some lettuce wrapped around a Burger while I was back home visiting and the pain was horrible.  I never realized how much of my diet was comprised of raw vegetables until I couldn't have them.  however the amount of pain that came fro just lettuce is keeping me away from them.

I would wait, and if you can't, call your surgeon's nurse/ARNP or your nutritionist.

OMG NO!

Raw vegetables will be a challenge for a while, and lettuce? Lets just put it this way. Romaine was NOT my friend for a long time...
