In the hospital for a week now with abcess - recovery?

Unfortunately I have caught an abcess in my abdomen as a complication to surgery, app. 3 weeks out.

I have now been in the hospital for a week with high fever and drainage of the abcess. I am far from all right yet.

My challenge is if/when I get out of here - I have a horribly hectic life with a management position and I live alone with two small kids. I have no idea of how to handle it all being this weak and expecting to stay weak for weeks...

Furthermore the abcess can risk coming back...which makes me really nervous...

Anyone who has had the same challenges?

I do not blame the surgeant or anything - it's a known complication with any major surgery in the abdomen. I was just unlucky...

If it happened in the USA they would give antibiotic IV's and possibly open up the wound and put in drain.  Then you would be sent home, possibly still on the IV and also have visiting nurses come to your home to clean and dress the wound.

You may need a friend or family member to help with the kids at home.  Recovery can take a month or longer.
