Feeling Unsuccesful

Hello, I'm feeling a little down.  I had the surgery 09/29/15, and have lost a total of only 55 lbs, so it's been almost 5 months.  I'm losing on the slow end.  I'm reading all these success stories of people losing this amount of weigh in like 3 months.  I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or not doing enough.  Please let me know what you guys think.

If you don't have a lot of weight to lose, you will probably lose slower.  You will lose the most amount of weight in the first few months.  As your weight decreases, so does the amount of weight you will lose.

You are actually barely at 4-1/2 months out.   If you've lost 55 lbs, that's 12 lbs per month, which is FANTASTIC.  Keep in mind that you didn't gain the weight overnight and it takes time to lose.  You're doing fine.  Don't lose your motivation now.

I had surgery on 10/5 and have lost 58 lbs so we are very similar. I am 5'5" and started at 242lbs. I am curious if you were near those stats?

Hello, I started at 285lbs, and now I'm around 230lbs.  I guess I'm just really scared of not succeeding.

I think we are all scared of that! You already have done great! My surgeon told me that now is the perfect time to start exercising every day and the weight will drop faster. Not sure if you have tried that but it might help. Keep doing what your doing!!

I kept a written old-school notebook and recorded my weight loss every monday - sometimes when I felt like I hadn't lost alot I would look at it - in black and white and realize I was doing great.  sometimes only .8 but then the next week 2.5 - it adds up and keeps going - don't sabotage yourself.  Keep on course.

I lost about the same amount of weight as you did at 5 months post-op, and I felt I was doing great! And I was!

It is a cumulative process. I didn't lose a lot in any given month, but it adds up if you keep at it! Hang in there!
