Lightheaded when standing and slimies?

Hi all. Since my surgery I have had the terrible light-headed feeling when I stand up. I get the rush of blood to my head, the heat, the weird almost deafness, etc. Does this go away as your body adjusts to the lesser amount of food? If so, about how long does it take?

Second question, what are slimies? Lately I have noticed what when I drink water I get this feeling of stuff in my throat, and I have to swallow super hard a few times to get it to go away. Is that what that is? I thought you got that from eating bad?

Thanks!

I have the light headed ness still. not too bad, nor as frequently. im 4 months post op. hope it ends for you soon! it is a pain. I have mainly now, my balance is thrown off more than the dizzy/head rush/light headedness.

I did not know it had a special word! Thank you. I wonder if I am b12 deficient. Thanks!

B12 deficiency isn't connected to orthostatic hypotension. Drink a lot more water, get more salt and electrolytes.

Thank you. Maybe I will try some of those zero calorie gatorades? All I drink now is water and 1 protein shake a day.

Do you monitor your blood pressure? I had to stop taking my blood pressure medication one month after my surgery.

I dont, but maybe I should start. I stopped taking my blood pressure meds pre-surgery and havent even thought about it again. Thanks for the advice!

I went over a year being dizzy and light headed especially after I got off a machine at the gym..I finally suggested to my Dr that my blood pressure pills had not been adjusted since my surgery! The Dr and I both agreed to lessen the dosage if I need to take one at all and I feel much better now. I do keep a watch on my pressure and if I see it's going up I take a pill... most days I do without a blood pressure pill! Good luck on your journey and if you continue to have problems, talk to your Dr.
