2-3 years out, what vitamins are you still taking daily?

I am about 2.5 years after my VSG surgery.  I have not only NOT lost all of my weight, but have started gaining again.  I am going to be getting back on track, because I know that there are no excuses.  I know what I need to do - get back to the basics after my VSG in the first place, which is how I lost the initial 150 lbs after surgery.

I have also stopped taking any supplements, and I feel like I need to get back on track with that as well.  Seeing my VSG surgeon is no longer an option, but I do have a regular doc who does the blood work when I need it and everything has been fine so far - but still feel like I need to be doing better.

What are you still doing for vitamins/supplements 2+ years out?

I also am a little more than 2 years out & I still take a multi vitamin, Vit D, calcium chews & iron. I stopped taking Vit B12 since my levels were too high. I'm due for another set of labs next month.

Maybe you can get a copy of your old bloodwork so your Dr knows what tests he should add, if any. It's good that you want to stay on top of things. Good Luck in getting to goal, you can do it!

Check google for the ASMBS recommendations. Many people can get by just fine with a regular multivitamin (Centrum or the store brand), often plus extra calcium, iron, and maybe B12.

Is it possible to see a different surgeon than the one who did your sleeve? It may be helpful to have at least a check-in with a bariatric specialist.

Same boat here.  I take Celebrate chewable multi-vitamins and Bariatric Advantage calcium chews.  I used to take a little extra D and B12, but my levels were plenty high on my recent blood work, so I dropped the extra.  I'm thinking of adding omega-3's because I don't eat fish and fish oil is supposed to be so good for you.

Here's what I'm trying to do to get my butt in gear again:  cut carbs (easier said than done), track everything in myfitnesspal, and up the water intake (instead of tons of coffee with sugar-free coffee mate). Tough slog, but we know the formula works when we stick to it!

I'm taking  a multi-vitamin twice a day, and "caltrate plus D" twice a day, and B12 once a week.  But my NP adjusts  these based on my blood work.  It is my understanding that I will need these supplements for the rest of my life.  I'd suggest going back to the regimen your doctor recommended for you, and then see what your next blood work shows.

I've come to the conclusion that maintenance is not "being done" with the diet.  Its just another diet with a few more calories and a bit more flexibility.  I try to hold my weight at 162, and when I hit 165, I go back into diet mode.  It is so easy to gain weight when I let my guard down,  so I can understand your struggles.

Good luck getting back on track.

I am 2 years out and take one prenatal vitamin per day (for the added vitamins, not pregnancy), BA calcium/vit D chews (4-5 per day) and FeraMax which is an iron supplement, plus 2 vitamin C chews.

Regain struggle is real, I can attest to that. Try to focus on achieving success one day at a time. Plan and track for today , work it today and deal with tomorrow when it arrives. Good luck! You can do this?.

I'll be 3 years out in September. I take a chewable multivitamin from celebrate. I also take 1200 mg calcium citrate. I have also struggled with some regain. It really helps me to come to this site daily and of course just go back to what worked in the first place. 80 gms protein, less then 40 gms carbs and 900 cal day

good luck
