Couple things...

1) How did you guys know you were "done" losing weight? I am nearly 8 months post-op, feeling amazing, met goals, but scale has been stuck a few weeks. I'm still following my diet and exercising regularly. I really don't feel like I need to lose anymore. I was just wondering if there was a point that you realized, "well I guess this is it". That's kind of where I am right now. It feels like my body is done. (Just for reference, I am 5'5" and 143 lbs, down from 215)

2) Has anyone experienced issues with their blood sugar dropping suddenly? It just started about 2 months ago. My diet and routine hasn't changed at all. I eat at regular intervals and don't eat anything that would spike and crash my glucose levels so erratically. I'm not panicking, as I know how to treat it when it happens, but I heard from a fellow VSGer that this can be a common issue for those that have had the surgery. Just wondering what others have experienced.

I see my doctor next week. Looking for insight before I go. Thanks everyone!

im glad you asked this question.  i hit goal like a month ago but then i got here and thought nope this isn't enough so i lowered it to 150 and now i'm at that and i'm like nope so my new goal is 140 but i really think i might go to 130.  i don't know when it stops or when you think it's enough cuz i've never been there!  my stats are similar to yours 5'3 started at 232, now 150.  it'll b interesting to see how our routines change once we're "at goal". like do u still work out the same or less or......????

At 133 my doctor told me he was happy with my weight, but I wanted to be 125.  I got down to 125 and then down to 122/123 for a while and was very happy there.  However, over the winter I ended up back around 130 - and am now around 128.  I would like to be 122/123 again to fit in all my cute summer clothes.

I sometimes get the blood sugar drop - it's usually caused by eating carbs without protein.  A yogurt usually brings me back.

You're "done" when you make a conscious decision to switch to maintenance. (At 5'5", that was 145 for me.) If you want to keep going, you may need to scale the calories back further, or stay in a holding pattern to see what your body does. Stalls happen and things slow further the smaller we get.

I'm going through the same thing right now.  I'm also 5'5", I started at 240 and am currently 141.2 pounds.  When I first started I wanted to be 135, but now I think I'm going to stop at 140.  I wear a size 6/8, or a size small, and I think I look pretty good for my age (59).  This last few pounds is taking me months to get off and I think I just want to get onto maintenance.

I'm going to see my surgeon on the 13th, and will ask him what he thinks.  Next year I will be having plastic surgery, so that may change everything.

5' 5" tall. VSG on August 4, 2015/ Starting weight 239.9/ Surgery weight 210.9/ Current weight 137.4/ Goal weight 140/ No longer overweight, now a NORMAL weight. Now that I'm at goal, it's time to move on to maintenance!!!!!!!!
