Eating

I'm 6 weeks out from surgery. I was told during the process that I would have to make myself eat after surgery. I didn't realize then how true that would be. The thought of eating usually turns my stomach. Any suggestions or tips on how to overcome this?  I know I have to eat but I've only been eating maybe 2-3 times a day and I know I need to eat more.

I went through the same thing. Some days I wished I could just skip it. But I knew I had to feed and hydrate myself like it or not. I think at about 7-8 weeks I started to enjoy eating again. I started to think ,Oh boy ,I get to eat soon , instead of oh no, I have to eat again. Hang in there, it gets better

You may want to use myfitnesspal on your phone or computer, to keep a log of your calories, carbs, and protein.   This will insure that you are getting in enough food.

I think you just have to wait it out.  It'll change eventually -- probably in the next few weeks.  You need to make sure you make your protein and water goals.  You need the protein to heal and the water to avoid dehydration.  As long as you are getting these two things in, I don't think you need to worry too much about how many meals you are getting.

Enjoy it while it lasts, because the next stage will be about resisting the forbidden foods.

best wishes,

Carol

I had RNY, but in the beginning I hated food, too. I focused on getting my protein in and forced myself to drink 3-4 protein shakes a day for over a month.

I set a schedule. Calories should be coming in under 800 at the 6 week mark, maybe even under 600. Just work on protein and fluids.
