I'm having VSG this Friday. How long did you take off from work? I'm planning on 2 weeks off, then going back to light duty only. Does that sound reasonable, or "good luck with that plan"

You should be good :) I went back after 5 days (surgery Thurs, work on Tuesday). I have a desk job so wasnt a big deal for me :)

I havent ever needed to nap like I see a lot of people posting about on here, though

Two weeks is pretty common. I was out for two weeks but really sluggish for my first week back, so I took it easy. (I'm a computer geek, so no problem there.) Just as long as you can get some rest when you get home, you should be fine!

Sparkle is a beast. 5 days is not very long :)   I went back exactly 2 weeks post op. At the time, I was teaching 5th grade. I had the kids do all the lifting for me for a few weeks. Kids are awesome by the way! I wasn't too sore, but did notice that I was ready for bed by like 6 PM, so fatigue was more of an issue. Not a terrible issue though. I am better at dealing with pain then fatigue though-

Probably depends on whether you do any lifting.  I have a desk job and took 2 weeks off completely, then worked from home for 2.

I took off about two weeks.  My pain was minimal pretty much immediately after surgery, I just struggled with fatigue and needed a nap almost every day.  It definitely gets better, but that was my truth the first few weeks.
