Gastic Sleeve OR Optifast Diet? Help!

Hi, I am new here and I am looking for some support. I went to my first consultation today and was given the option of either going on an Optifast diet which is 3 shakes per day while working out until i reach my goal weight and the doctor said he would support me one on one and suggested i take that route BUT it is 400$ a month. OR he said I can get the sleeve surgery which is covered by OHIP but he doesn't recommend it because I am still young, I am 25 years old. I need some help in choosing what is right for me and what are the  Optifast shakes success stories? I havent seen many online results unlike the Gastric Sleeve Surgery where I have heard about lots of success. ALSO, I am very scared about getting the surgery and thinking of being put under scares me, did any one else feel this way before they had their surgeries? I suffer with panic/anxiety .

There are no longterm Optifast success stories because nobody can stay on it longterm.

I am by no means a veteran (10 days post op) but you asked if any one else was scared about having the surgery.  The best word to describe how I felt the night before surgery was TERRIFIED.  However, it was all in vain...lol.  The morning of surgery I woke up at peace with what was about to take place because I knew I was doing something to help me with becoming healthy.  I knew I wanted to be around to see my 3 year old twins grow up and my doctors kept telling me I was taking 20+ years off my life.  I don't know about you but I plan on being around for a very looooonnnnnnng time !!!  So just know, you are not alone and you can do this if this is what you decide is best for you!

Almost all of us are on this Forum because we have tried diets and have failed or regained. I chose to have VSG and I am very happy with my decision!

Why does the doctor believe Optifast will work for you when, I assume, other diets you've tried have not?

I am assuming he is suggesting this diet until I reach my goal because he thinks that with the guidance of his help, dieticians, psychologist it will be different than going to a weigh****ers or other commercialized weight loss clinics. Other weight loss strategies have worked for me, I just hit a rock bottom depression which I gained 100 pounds from.

I would ask him to be sure.  I'd be dubious.

Have you, are you, being treated for the depression?
