Hello everyone, I am 6 months post op today and I have to say that I feel great. I was at 245 when I started this journey, today I am at 169, I have lost 76 pounds and sometimes I cant even believe it. One of my concerns is that I don't know how much weight will continue to come off, I would be fine if I stayed like this, and I never really had a goal that I wanted to reach so I don't know how to feel exactly. A few years ago I thought I would be happy at 200, now at 169, I am super happy, feel good, feel healthy, but I have read that you can keep on losing up to 1 year and more. Should I be concerned about losing too much???

Another one of my concerns was the hair loss, I did lose quite a bit of hair, and it was driving me crazy, so I decided to get a haircut, im not as self conscience now and maybe its just the haircut or maybe its that its not falling out as much, im not sure, but it has gotten better thank god!!

anyway, to anyone thinking about getting the VSG, go for it, it will be the best decision of your life!!! it was in mine!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Aim for a BMI in the middle of the healthy range. You won't lose too much. 99.9 percent of those who worry they are going to lose too much end up complaining that they can't get the last 10-20 pounds off.

Keep doing what you've been doing. The odds are overwhelming that between year one and year two, you'll gain back 10 or 20 pounds. It's not written in stone, but you will be able to eat more, and you'll start back on some old, bad habits.

Lose it now. Keep going. It will never be easier.

You need a goal and you need to lose 10, 20 or 30 pounds under that goal to allow for the regain that will happen.  Use the BMI calculator in Resources to calculate your normal BMI.

I really want to thank you for this update. I have been on the fence since I really didn't know how much weight I could lose in 6 months. I've read it can take 2-3 years to lose the weight & that discouraged me but after this I am on board again! So again thank you for sharing as this has helped a lot!

Glad that my post helped you, believe me, the weight comes off pretty fast, every week you are losing weight. it does slow down after a few months but you do keep on losing. i remember , i got my surgery in February and by May i had lost almost 50 lbs and it was very noticeable.  i have lost about another 25 lbs since then.

Go for it, you will not regret it, it is not easy but it is worth it !! for sure !!!

Good luck!!!
