Weird Question

Did you encounter sleep problems after your VSG? Aside from the dry mouth, I mean. I wake up constantly and it's seriously wearing on me. I feel like I am getting better but this lack of sleep is creating problems.

June 21st and it has been a horrible recovery. I'm at the point that I could care less if I lose another pound. My nurse said that I was loosing to fast initially.

I had issues sleeping initially because I was so uncomfortable due to the incisions.  But it passed eventually.

Call your surgeon to check.  Your nurse sounds like they're full of it.

There is no such thing as losing too fast.

Talk to your docs. Not sleeping after 2 months is not usually a problem.

Contact your surgeon's office. You're still in the recovery stage, and all manner of things can be messed up during that time. Call your surgeon's office. He/she may recommend a short-term sleep prescription like Ambien.

I didn't have sleep problems post-op, but lots of other things went haywire for a while. Recovery can be tough.

It takes a long time for all of the anesthesia to leave your system after surgery (up to a year!!!).  It can really mess up your sleep patterns.  It does get better.  Give it more time.

I also had sleep problems, among other things, for a little over a month after surgery. It takes time and you'll start feeling better as you increase your protein intake. In the meantime, nap if you can and ask your doctor about taking Melatonin. It's an herbal supplement that makes you drowsy. I still have sleep issues and my daughter's pediatrician suggested it.

I have had a lot of insomnia post-op.  I had my surgery a week after you.  For awhile I thought it was tied to days I didnt consume enough protein but now I'm not sure that is all of it.  I had an unusually low protein day on Saturday (was travelling and didnt pack snacks for myself) and I slept horribly Saturday night so there may still be something to that.
